We explore architecture through human experience—where light and shadow shape space, and form emerges from a dialogue between context and content, giving a place identity through proportion and simplicity.
Narragansett Bay house is our initial project, set on a narrow lot near the bay. At the street, the house remains two stories and connected to its neighbor, while the living spaces are lifted to meet flood conditions and open to views of the water. The primary suite is elevated above the living spaces for privacy and extant views.

Studio Yad is a full-service practice specializing in high-end residential design, with an interest in projects of all architectural typologies and scales.
The studio was founded with the ambition to create a practice built on technical expertise and design vision, with a collaborative process with clients and a shared passion for architecture that leaves a trace of memory. Each project is approached with clarity, shaping spaces that seek to intertwine with nature and anchor the architecture.
Alan Abdulkader
Drawing on more than fifteen years of experience with notable architectural practices, Alan founded Studio Yad to create thoughtful spaces shaped by people, place, and memory.
He practices architecture in Seattle and has taught abstract design and silver gelatin photography at Green River College. He studied architecture and art at Washington State University, earning a BS in Architecture, a BFA in Art, and a Master of Architecture, with a minor in English Creative Writing. His graduate thesis received an AIA Certificate and the Golden Medal of Merit from the Henry Adams Fund in Architecture.
Alan is also a practicing artist and creative writer, with several self-published books of art, poetry, fiction, and essays.
